The 1963 “GP” (as they were known) was restyled bumper to bumper, with smooth sheet metal, a slight “Coke-bottle” shape, and a concave rear window. Sales at that time, more than doubled and many buyers upgraded the performance package with 3×2 “Tri-Power” carburettors on the 389-c.i. V-8. With this setup, the engine put out 370 hp and the car could turn 0-60 times of 6.6 seconds with 15.1-second quarter mile runs.
Our 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix hardtop is definitely an amazement. With the GTOs getting all the attention, it’s only a matter of time before everyone catches on that the Grand Prix. This one packs a rumbling 389 cui engine, with the 3×2 “Tri-Power” carburettors option, a gorgeous interior full of options, and has the right look for full-sized Pontiac muscle car. Still wearing a coat of original spec special-order settle bronze paint, this gorgeous full-sized coupe has all you need.
Pontiac designers nailed the proportions, giving the big car a sporty attitude despite being notably bigger than its GTO sibling. The all-new look of the 1963 cars introduced styling features that would become Pontiac trademarks for years to come, including stacked headlights and the slick taillights hidden in the trim.
Our handsome Grand Prix wears a white interior and the vinyl upholstery is in good condition with some minor splits or tears, matching door panels and the dash board has been replaced just recently. All the instruments are working, including the console-mounted economy gauge. This beauty also features a centre console, power windows, and the AM/FM radio that sounds great.
The original, numbers-matching 389 shows just +/- 78,000 original miles and a dual exhaust as original is fitted. The matching 3-speed roto hydromantic (Slim Jim) was just recently overhauled. In addition, our beauty features the highly desirable new 8 lug wheels and it sits on correct 8.5×14 bias-ply whitewalls all around.
