The compact Falcon-based Ranchero was the sole player in the car-truck market from 1961 to 1963 until Chevrolet introduced the downsized El Camino in 1964 and 1965, then adopted the longer coke bottle styling in 1966 and 1967, based on the mid-sized A-body Chevelle. This new design featured the Malibu's brightwork and stylish full wheel covers.

The El Camino was the first vehicle in the U.S. to blend the best attributes of both cars and pickup trucks into one convenient package. Over the years, the El Camino underwent numerous changes, but the SS models from the late 1960s and early 1970s are particularly noteworthy. This 1967 El Camino SS boasts a powerful 396C.I. V8 engine paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Additional features include power steering, power brakes, and rear air shocks. The exterior is finished in Chevrolet white with a natural patina, highlighted by attractive chrome work and iconic Chevy Rallye wheels.
